When you decide to paint any rooms in your home, it is exciting. The job is a big enough one, that many people decide to turn the task over to professionals so that they get crisp lines and clean finishes without all the hassle of doing it themselves. Even when you choose to have professionals handle the painting of your home, there are several things you can do to help prepare the way for them to get the job done quickly and effectively. Jeff The Painter is here to share some tips to help you be as prepared as possible for the professional painters before they get there to do the job.
Clean Out the Closets Before Hiring Painters
Many rooms have a closet that is often overlooked. If you are having a room painted that has a closet, you need to have the closet cleaned out before the painters get there. If the closet is almost completely full of your belongings, that is nothing but time wasted as the painters wait for you to clean it out. The same goes for cabinets that you are having cleaned. They will need to be completely cleaned out before the painting process can begin.
Do Interior House Painters Move Furniture?
This may seem obvious, but there are several times that painters show up and find that the room looks like it normally would with furniture all over the place. Any small furniture should be removed completely from the room when it is possible. If you have large furniture that is far too difficult to remove from the room, you should move it to the center of the room and cover it with drop cloths that are thick enough to give it ample coverage and protection from splattering paint.
Remove Wall Hangings Before Painting
Again, this may be a no brainer, but the wall hangings on the walls need to be removed before the painters are there and ready to paint. One thing that many people don’t remember is that when they remove the wall hangings, they don’t necessarily have to remove the hardware used to hang it up. That can be painted and remain in place so you can easily hang the pictures back on the wall when painting is complete.
Clean Walls Before Painting
You may not realize how much dirt and dust can collect on a vertical wall. Even though your home may be clean, the walls have likely been neglected for years. If you remove the dirt and dust from the wall’s surface, your finished product will look much better. The paint will adhere to the wall better and the look will be more uniform.
