Are you ready to make changes to your home with a new paint color palette? Repainting a home is a great way to refresh the look of your home. When you are ready for some changes a new color palette is the best way to go. When choosing a new color palette for your home there are a few aspects you will want to consider to ensure you love the new palette. Jeff the Painter will cover a few tips to help you choose your next color palette for your home.
Choose Coordinating Paint Colors in Your Style
There are some very popular color palettes that you may see in many homes. These color palettes are better known as trends. If you ever consult an interior designer they may encourage you to follow some of the current trends to modernize your home. However, you need to love your home as you are the one living there. If some of the current trends don’t fit your style, then don’t do it. If you don’t love the colors you pick for your home, you will simply want to repaint the home within a few weeks. It is a waste of time and money, so do not feel like you must follow the current trends if you don’t love it. Trends come and go, but you will spend every day inside your home. Therefore, stay within your style and choose the colors you love.
When Painting what Colors Should You Start With?
Many painting or hardware stores as well as interior designers will have many existing color palettes already assembled. You can look at paint chips that have a recommended paint palette or a combination of colors that work great with each other. Most paint palettes will consist of two to four different complimentary colors. However, when you see three or four different colors, this doesn’t always mean paint color. The third or fourth color may be furniture and décor which works as an additional accent color. Often you don’t want to use more than two to three paint colors which include the walls, ceiling, trims and other accents. However, figuring out what colors that work with each other can be mind numbing. This is why it is recommended to look at some existing paint chips with a palette put together.
How Does Lighting Affect Paint Color?
The lighting in the home greatly influences the painting colors in the home. Often you can get small test paint cans in the color you would like to paint in your home. You can paint a small section on the wall and trim to see how the color will look inside the home before you commit to the entire project. When testing your paint colors to see if you will love it, inspect the paint in the morning, again in the afternoon, and finally at night. See the color at different times and in different light. Colors can greatly change, so make sure you enjoy the palette throughout the entire day and night.
