You want to consider the colors that are found on the houses around you when choosing your paint color as well. If you live in an HOA, you will more than likely have to submit your paint color choice to the board to get the okay on what color you can paint the house. You want a paint color that is going to set your house apart from your neighbors, but you also want to choose one that isn’t going to clash with neighboring houses either.
Lighting Can Affect Paint Color
After you have painted some of the samples on the outside of your home, you are going to want to look at it at different times throughout the day. You will find that light has a big impact on how a paint color looks. Make sure you like the color no matter what time of the day it is. Consider painting a little bit on each of the different sides of your home too as the lighting can be drastically different on the south side when compared to the north side.
What Color Should Exterior Trim Be?
Most homes have trim on them as well. You don’t want to forget the trim color. Make sure the trim color is complimentary with the paint you have chosen for the house. You may have to change the color of the trim if it clashes with your home.
