Vinyl Siding

Vinyl siding is another popular material that is used along the exterior walls of homes. Vinyl siding comes in many colors, textures and designs. Vinyl siding in general doesn’t need to be painted in the beginning. Vinyl siding comes per-colored and doesn’t need extra protection. However over time the sun, rain and other elements can cause the vinyl to fade. As the vinyl fades, it looks terrible and ruins your home’s curbside appeal. When this occurs you can repaint the vinyl to improve its aesthetics. When painting the vinyl you need a vinyl-safe paint to prevent any damage to the material. You will want to maintain the paint and repaint only as needed.

Aluminum Siding

Aluminum siding is strong and durable and is rather low maintenance. Like vinyl siding, aluminum siding doesn’t need to be painted for protection, at least not right away. Aluminum can become chalky when left out in the sun. Where aluminum doesn’t rust, it will also corrode. To prevent that chalky texture or corroding you can and will want to paint the aluminum. You can paint your aluminum right away for aesthetic purposes or make sure to paint the aluminum after a few years in the sun. When painting aluminum you will want to use a paint that is designed to work with aluminum.

Stucco Siding

Because stucco is a porous surface made of cement, you may wonder if you can you paint stucco. While you most definitely can paint stucco, there are certain paints you will want to avoid using and other factors to consider. Choosing the right kind of paint will prevent blistering and peeling as well as prevent moisture from penetrating the material and causing damage.
